The SureNexus consortium is pleased to announce the successful completion of its 2nd presential meeting, held from October 23-25, 2024, at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). This three-day event facilitated in-depth discussions on the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems (WEFE) Nexus and showcased innovative approaches to Nexus integration across various project components and demonstration sites.
Key Highlights of the Meeting:
- Day 1: The event began with a project overview by Jordi Morató of UPC, who presented progress on key deliverables and upcoming activities. Sessions focused on technology selection, WEFE metrics, and various Nexus-related projects, including CARDIMED, REMEDIES, AccelWater, and Greenadapt. The day concluded with a networking dinner, fostering collaboration among consortium members.
- Day 2: Dedicated to the demo sites, updates were provided on the Codorniu and Torre Marimon sites, as well as the Digital Citrus INRA project and Agrovoltaics in Israel. Sessions also covered stakeholder engagement, knowledge brokerage, and precision irrigation technologies for demonstration sites, enriching knowledge sharing across partners.
- Day 3: The meeting wrapped up with a focus on the Tinos demonstration sites and a Nexus thinking review. Participants later enjoyed a guided tour of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, an inspiring example of sustainable Nexus principles in action.
This meeting underscored the importance of collaborative approaches in addressing climate change and resource management challenges. We look forward to building on this momentum as we continue to advance Nexus solutions within the SureNexus project.
