Description
Tinos (Cyclades, Greece) is an island that has a land area of 194.464 square km and a population of 8,636 (2011). Tinos has developed alternative tourism, mainly focused on pilgrimages hiking and ecotourism. However, the development of the tourism on the island has led to a large demand for water and energy during the high season and problems in wastewater management, as there is no sewage treatment plant. The Demonstration Sites will seek alternative, nature-based, low-cost solutions for the treatment and recovery of valuable water products.
