Dr. Rachid Mrabet Showcases Moroccan Expertise and Nexus Innovation at the WEFE Conference in Cairo
As a key scientific committee member and senior partner in the SURENEXUS project, Dr. Rachid Mrabet (Research Director, INRA Morocco) played a central role in the WEFE Nexus in Egypt and the MENA Region Conference, held on 13–14 May 2025 in Cairo, Egypt. The event, hosted under the theme “Exploring and Bridging Nexus for a Sustainable Future”, brought together top experts and institutions under the EU-funded PRIMA Partnership framework.
Pillar 1: Technical Solutions – Moderated by Dr. Mrabet
Dr. Mrabet chaired the entire first day of the conference, focused on Pillar 1: WEFE Nexus Solutions. This pillar explored cutting-edge technologies, traditional ecological knowledge, and integrated approaches in managing water, energy, food, and ecosystem resources.
He also delivered a keynote presentation highlighting:

Moroccan case studies on climate-smart agriculture, particularly the application of sustainable nutrient and water management practices in citrus orchards through the Citrus Living Lab.

The use of soil moisture sensors, mulching, and agro-ecological approaches to enhance productivity and resilience.
