AI Training and Stakeholder Meeting in Kenitra Advances Sustainable Agriculture
Kenitra, Morocco – February 13, 2025 — As part of the SureNexus project, the Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique (INRA) in Kenitra hosted a collaborative event with the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), combining AI training, a demonstration site visit, and stakeholder engagement.
AI Training and Demonstration Site Visit
The day began with an AI training session led by Pau Fonseca (UPC), introducing participants to the use of Artificial Intelligence in the Water-Energy-Food-Environment (WEFE) Nexus. Topics included system dynamics modeling and the NECADA simulation platform.
Later, the teams visited the INRA demonstration site in Kenitra, where they explored ongoing projects applying AI for improved agricultural sustainability and resource efficiency.
Stakeholder Meeting
The afternoon brought together seven Moroccan stakeholders—from irrigation, conservation agriculture (ONCA), drone technologies, and the agro-input industry—for a roundtable discussion. Dr. Rachid Mrabet (INRA) presented the SureNexus objectives, sparking dialogue on how AI can address local challenges in agriculture.
The event strengthened collaboration between UPC, INRA, and Moroccan actors, underlining AI’s potential to transform sustainable farming.
