Workshop in Kenitra, Morocco.
Day 1 Highlights – National Stakeholder Platform
- Multidisciplinary Panels: Discussions on water management, clean energy, sustainable agriculture, ecosystems, data governance, and climate resilience.
- Field Visit to Kenitra Living Lab: On-site demonstration of smart irrigation systems, solar-powered pumping, precision agriculture, and circular economy practices like agricultural plastic reuse.
- Stakeholder Co-Creation: Active collaboration in shaping Morocco’s National WEFE Nexus Platform, with goals to:
- Foster intersectoral policy integration;
- Promote data-driven planning;
- Enable adoption of localized, climate-resilient technologies.
Day 2 – AI Training for WEFE Nexus Modeling
Led by experts Dr. Pau Fonseca and Dr. Jordi Morató (UPC Barcelona), the training session focused on using Digital Twins and System Dynamics to simulate and optimize the WEFE interactions. Topics included:
- Introduction to AI for sustainable agriculture;
- Use of NECADA and System Dynamics Logic (SDL);
- Step-by-step modeling of a Digital Twin for the Kenitra demo site;
- Scenario simulations and compensations block design;
- Integration of Large Language Models (LLMs) for technology recommendation systems.
The training emphasized participatory, data-informed modeling for effective decision support — tailored to Morocco’s socio-ecological and agricultural realities.
Key Takeaways:
- Strengthened collaboration across water, energy, agriculture, and environmental sectors;
- Practical application of AI tools in the context of Mediterranean agriculture;
- Enhanced capacity for sustainable planning and integrated resource management;
- Support for Morocco’s “Generation Green 2020–2030” strategy and long-term food security goals
