The SureNexus project (www.surenexus.eu) has embarked on an exciting journey towards transforming the digital landscape of the Mediterranean region, as demonstrated by its recent Kick-Off Meeting and participation in the Researchers’ Night 2023 in Athens. These milestones have set the tone for an ambitious and collaborative initiative aimed at driving sustainable connectivity and innovation across the Mediterranean.

Kick-Off Meeting Sets the Tone for Success

The SureNexus project kicked off with a momentous online gathering of partners and stakeholders, laying the foundation for a successful collaboration that transcends borders. The meeting saw representatives from 17 organizations across the Mediterranean converge to embark on a shared vision of digital transformation.

During the meeting, project partners shared their enthusiasm for SureNexus and emphasized the importance of pooling expertise from diverse regions to create a sustainable and inclusive future considering the complex nature of what is called the “WEFE Nexus”: an approach for Water,Energy, Food, and Ecosystems that highlights the interdependence of water, energy and food security and ecosystems . They also outlined key project objectives, such as addressing key knowledge and research gaps, and enabling factors related to (1) finance and economy, (2) multi-level governance, participation and inclusion, (3) gender and culture and (4) policy and legislation .

SureNexus further demonstrated its commitment to sustainability and knowledge sharing by participating in the Researchers’ Night 2023 in Athens. The event showcased the project’s dedication to exploring the intricate connections between water, energy, and food in the context of digital transformation.

Project representatives from the National Technical University of Athens engaged with the public and other researchers, fostering a friendly and open environmental to discuss critical challenges at the intersection of technology and sustainability. The Researchers’ Night event highlighted SureNexus’s commitment to public engagement and its role in fostering a more informed and connected society.
