University of Oujda Master’s Students Explore Nexus Solutions and Applied Research at CRRA and Living Lab
SureNexus was pleased to welcome a group of Master’s students from the University of Oujda to the project’s Living Lab site as part of an educational visit aimed at linking academic learning with real-world application. The visit took place under the supervision of Professor Rachid, Professor Berrichi and Professor Koudane, who guided the students through the site and facilitated discussions on integrated Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems (WEFE) management.
In addition to the Living Lab visit, the students participated in a field trip to the Centre Régional de la Recherche Agronomique (CRRA) in Kénitra, organized as part of their Master’s program in Horticultural and Landscape Engineering at the Faculty of Science in Oujda. The trip aimed to strengthen the connection between academic training and applied research, offering the students the opportunity to learn about citrus cultivation research, particularly the development of citrus varieties and the use of artificial intelligence to improve irrigation efficiency and pest control.
During the Living Lab visit, students had the opportunity to explore the practical implementation of Nexus concepts in a real-world setting, learn about the challenges and solutions involved in decentralized resource management, and engage with members of the SureNexus team. The Living Lab serves as a demonstration site for Nexus-based innovations and participatory approaches, making it a valuable resource for both research and education.
This kind of academic engagement reflects the project’s commitment to capacity building and knowledge transfer, especially within the MENA region. SureNexus strongly values collaborations with universities and is proud to contribute to the training of the next generation of Nexus professionals.
We thank the University of Oujda and the supervising professors for their visit and look forward to future exchanges and partnerships.
