Empowering Rural Women through the WEFE Nexus: SureNexus at CAWTAR Tunisia
On November 28, 2023, SureNexus partners will participate in the event “Rural Women in the Heart of the WEFE Nexus,” organized by CAWTAR in Tunisia. This significant event, held in the context of Mediterranean Day at COP 28, is co-organized by the Euro-Mediterranean Women’s Foundation (FFEM), CAWTAR, PRIMA, and the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM). SureNexus will be represented by INNOVAGRISUD and INRA, contributing their expertise on the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems (WEFE) Nexus framework.
INNOVAGRISUD will present the pivotal role rural women play in fostering sustainable development through the WEFE Nexus, focusing on gender-inclusive approaches. The presentation will highlight practical solutions that enhance agricultural practices, improve water management, and protect ecosystems while placing rural women at the forefront of these transformations.
In addition, Dr. Rachid Mrabet from INRA will present SureNexus during the Mediterranean Day discussions, linking the project’s innovative approaches to climate resilience and resource management in the Euro-Mediterranean context. His presentation will underscore how SureNexus strategies contribute to advancing sustainability goals, particularly by empowering women to lead resource management initiatives within rural communities.
These participations will not only promote gender-inclusive sustainability solutions but also emphasize the indispensable role of rural women in driving change across the Mediterranean region.
